Guide for Participants

  1. Fill out the attached form, telling us your plan. Space is limited so we encourage early application. Please discuss with us any questions or problems that you have. Be specific in describing your booth and particularly, what you plan to sell; participants are not permitted to sell items other than those specified on the form. Items sold must be relevant to Japanese culture.
  2. Each group must provide its own booth and decorate it appropriately to our Japanese theme. All materials are to be supplied by you (booths, chairs, tables, electrical cords, booth garbage disposal). We supply only the space and large dumpsters for garbage at the end of the day.
  3. A $150 registration fee, to be submitted with the registration form and payable to the Japanese Cultural Fair, is required to reserve booth space. A confirmation will be mailed to you. An assessment of 10% of the day's revenues (gross receipts) will be charged to all participating individuals, groups, organizations, and businesses. Any discrepancy between receipts and the 10% will result in forfeiting the right to participate in future Fairs. This assessment is due and payable at the end of the Fair (no later than 6:00 p.m.) at the JCF Headquarters booth at the church side of the fountain.
  4. The hours of the Fair are noon until 6:00 p.m. You may set up your booth as early as 8:00 a.m. After setting up, all vehicles must be moved from the Plaza Park area by 11:00 am. Parking is available across Mission Street. We request that each booth remain set up until 6 pm. You must remove all of your materials and your booth as soon as possible after closing. Materials cannot be left overnight.
  5. Electricity is available on a limited basis and on a first-come, first-serve basis. Arrangements for electricity must be made and approved in advance and must be noted in the booth application. Please bring your own extension cords. Bring 100 feet of cord! The charge is $10.00.
  6. The Santa Cruz Japanese Cultural Fair Committee will confirm all registrations by maiL We reserve the right lo make any changes, veto any activity, or refuse participation to any individuals or groups as may be necessary to carry out the purpose of the Fair.
  7. Each participant will be expected to donate an item for the raffle conducted during the Fair. Please bring this to The JCF Headquarters booth upon arrival.
